Mi-Fi 1.1 in AppStore Now and what I learned along the way...

During 360idev (Sept 27-30) I wrote a small app to check the battery and connectivity level of my Mifi Card. I didn’t think many people would have an iPhone and a Mifi card. The iPhone is already 3g, but effectively there is not tethering allowed and the AT&T network is crapy.

You Mifi card status iPhone App on the Available on the AppStore now.

If you have an iPhone and like several people i know you didn't tether it and you are not happy with AT&T's 3G network chances are you have a Mifi 2200 card from Sprint or Verizon. These Mifi cards are pretty cool and now you can use the Mi-Fi app from your iPhone and see the following status: Battery Level, Connectivity, Data Received and Transmitted (since connected), Time Connected and IP address. Try it out and if you like it rate it!

Ubuntu Netbook Remix on an Acer Aspire One A110

acer-aspire-oneFor my weeks on call, Brightbox let me choose an ultra-mobile (netbook) PC. This will allow me to leave the house without having to carry a heavy full-size laptop with me.

I wanted one that worked well with Linux, preferably Ubuntu Netbook Remix, had SSD rather than hard disk, and built-in 3G connectivity.

Upgraded to iPhone OS 3.0 and running out of battery fast?

After upgrading my girlfriend’s iPhone 3G to OS 3.0 recently, I noticed that the iPhone’s battery was getting depleted really quickly. I’d left it overnight with Wifi, 3G, Bluetooth, Push Notifications all off, and the battery went from 80% to a jaw-dropping OMGWTFBBQ 10%.

I attributed it to the recent jailbreak (I’ve already removed the jailbreak trying to figure out this problem) at first. I only realized something was really wrong when the iPhone’s battery started draining while it was charging via USB!

Scrubyt, a quick view:

Today I come up to Scrubyt, an excellent piece of code developed by Peter Szinek, Glenn Gillen and a bunch of other collaborators. What this software do is essentially fetch and operate on XML/HTML pages, here’s an example taken from the official website:
