Redfinger: A Ruby WebFinger Gem

Just yesterday, Google turned on webfinger for all GMail accounts. Today, we’re releasing a RubyGem to help you use the new protocol!

Simple Mustache JSON Serialization

If you’ve taken a look at Mustache, the “stupid in a good way” templating engine, you might know that there are also Javascript Mustache renderers such as Mustache.js. Today we’ve released a small library called mustache_json that allows you to compile your Mustache view objects into JSON, allowing them to be interpreted by Javascript Mustache rendering engines.

Hashie: The Hash Toolkit

One of my earliest gems was Mash, a useful tool for creating mocking objects as a Hash. One of the most common problems people had with Mash was a simple one: it conflicted with another class of the same name in extlib! To address this problem as well as give the project some room to grow, Mash is now part of a new toolkit called Hashie. Hashie is available now via Gemcutter and the source, as always, is available on GitHub.

Presently Adds SharePoint Integration

We’re always looking for ways to make it easier to integrate Presently into your day-to-day workflow. Today, we’re happy to announce something that will make it much easier for businesses using Microsoft’s SharePoint to integrate Presently. Starting today businesses can use the Presently SharePoint Web Part.

TweetStream: Ruby Access to the Twitter Streaming API

Twitter’s Streaming API is one of the most exciting developments in the Twitter API in some time. It gives you the ability to create a long-standing connection to Twitter that receives “push” updates when new tweets matching certain criteria arrive, obviating the need to constantly poll for updates. TweetStream is a Ruby library to access the new API.

Vladimir Tarasov

Vlad Tarasov has today had some serious health issues, and, of course, can no longer attend. We send him and his family our best wishes, and hope for a speedy recovery.

Change in line-up

I got an e-mail last night suggesting that Jason Hoffman won't be able to attend the conference. It seems that this is indeed the case. These things happen, I suppose!
However, as a motivational speaker might tell you, these sort of things are not problems, but opportunities, and in fact, its all turning out rather well!

Instead ofJason, we can now hear from Fred George - a former ThoughtWorks Vice President, Agile Guru and someone with 40 years experience in IT - who has written code not just in Ruby, but 60 other languages!

Sponsor News, book discounts

Manning, publisher of books such as The Well Grounded Rubyist and Ruby in Practice (and many others) are offering a 35% discount to everyone attending the conference. You could even pre-order Rails 3 in Action (due in February 2010, but available via early access)

Free BDD Workshop, 23rd July

Chris Parsons from Eden Development is putting together a half-day workshop on Cucumber & BDD techniques for the day before the conference. These topics have been very popular on the forums and in the feedback I've received, so I hope you will find the workshop useful!

Last day for Early Bird tickets!

There is just three weeks to go before the conference, and things are geting even more hectic around here.. Today is the last day to get your early bird discount tickets, so get them quick!
