Pop up window problem in IE

Recently I was having problem to open pop up window in IE browsers. Although it works properly in all other browsers.

LDAP for Internet: OpenID

Remember my post about the need for something on the lines of LDAP for Internet?
OpenID is synonymous with LDAP for Internet.

In the crux it works like this,
1. As a user I get an openID for myself from one of the openID providers.
2. I visit a site(e.g. www.wikitravel.com) which supports openID, and then enter my openID which was given to me by openID provider.

The Hpricot and Sandbox Mailing Lists

I know a lot of you have questions about how to use Hpricot. And I’d like to start helping with that a lot more. For example, did you know that XML files should be loaded with the Hpricot::XML() method? Oh, hey, that’s handy, right? That skips Hpricot’s HTML clean-up stuff.

So, I’ve started lists for both Hpricot and Sandbox, since both have had lots of good activity over the last little while.

Germany in September

So, I’ll definitely be attending RailsConf Europe this year (in addition to a slew of other conferences), and I’ve decided that this is the perfect opportunity to look around. I’ve never been to Germany, though it’s always been on my list.

What makes it even better is that I’ll be bringing along my wife, Melissa, for a few days away from our two lovely, but exhausting sons. Melissa’s father was adopted from Berlin as a child, so she’s always had an interest in visiting.

Initial reactions to Rails 1.2... annoyed

I’ve held off my opinion about Rails 1.2 until I had a little more experience with it. First of all, I’m going to say I’m glad Rails has put out this release, because some of the features in Edge I’ve been needing for a while and, in cases where I couldn’t wait, like my simply_restful_backport, I hacked a ported version to 1.1.x. I also had unpublished ports for REST, routing, and a few deprecations to prepare myself.

Just a short note to inform you that I’m moving everything to bleything.net soonish. When that happens, redirects and whatnot will be in place to ease the transition.
