Hello world

Hello everyone!

In an effort to get best of both worlds and put it together, I’ve created this blog so that we can discuss how does Domain-Driven Design fits in the Ruby world. This won’t be a blog that explains what DDD is about but I’ll do my best to provide references in order to support my thoughts. I also have a lot of material about DDD which I’ll be posting on the Links page soon.

About me

I’m a 22 year old developer from Brazil having 2 year of experience on PHP, .NET, VB6 and classic asp projects. I’ve been studying computer science at Universidade Federal da Bahia for 3 and a half years and my plans are to graduate by the end of the next year. I also lived in Australia for a year when I was on a high-school exchange about 5 years ago and thats where most of my english comes from.

Apart from the short experience, I’ve worked on a few different areas that includes: industrial automation, customer relationship management, health care and project management. I’m also involved in a open source project called OutletORM that is a lightweigth and unobtrusive ORM library for PHP.

I have to say that I’m not a DDD nor a Ruby expert, but I’ve been studying and trying to apply DDD ideas and concepts for about one year now. Most of what I’ve done was using PHP and .NET.

I’ve started to learn Ruby motivated by Rails about half a year ago and I liked it straight ahead. I’ve been doing some experimentation with it and now I’m confortable to talk about it and work on a real project when I get the chance.

I’m already writing a new post about what were my motivations to start this discussion. If you have any material or if you have done anything related to the “combination” let me know, I have a lot of interest in it.

See ya!
