Do people today have the power to change the ethics of a corporation?

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, blogs. There is an ever increasing set of tools that allow a single person to amplify their voice a thousand fold. This is something that companies have never had to deal with before. In the past, companies could make their profits any way they saw fit, save government regulation, and there was little to nothing a single person could do about it. It was the classic story of David versus Goliath.

MBA programs have admitted to not focusing enough on business ethics in their courses. Management by spreadsheet was taught to many. Strive for the almighty dollar and make those profits.

Society is not a passive spectator in this debate. People like money. We all need money to live, and companies need money to operate, and keep people employed.

Who determines what is ethical and what is not? How can they enforce these standards on companies? Can you?

Society needs to get together and determine how we want to be. Easier said that done I know, however if this doesn’t happen, people will continue to be rolled over as they are now. Whether we know it or not, the effects of these companies are felt by many.
